Science Literacy Initiative Faculty Hired at UNL
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resource's Science Literacy Initiative received a big boost this summer with the hiring of several new faculty members. These faculty members represent the first full subject-matter "cluster" in a major new hiring initiative at the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources that ultimately will bring 36 new faculty members to UNL. Trade Key to Nebraska Farmers, Ranchers
Most of the people who eat Nebraska’s beef, pork and corn don’t live in Nebraska.
“Nebraska producers produce more than Nebraskans can consume,” Third District Rep. Adrian Smith told about 25 people who attended his Trade Town Hall this week in Broken Bow.
The Broken Bow gathering was one of three Rep. Smith is holding across the state this week to help his constituents better understand the value of global trade and provide information on expanding market access for local products. Click here for full story.
Mythcrusher Video Focuses on 'Meatless Monday'
Saving the environment by eating less meat has been a motivation for Meatless Monday supporters, but a new Meat MythCrusher video challenges those claims. The video, produced by the American Meat Institute and the American Meat Science Association, features an interview with Frank Mitloehner, Ph.D, Associate Professor and Air Quality Specialist in Cooperative Extension at the University of California-Davis, who discredits the belief that cutting meat from your diet one day a week can have a significant environmental benefit.
