Lincoln – Nebraska Farm Bureau’s voting delegates said this week they adamantly oppose efforts by animal rights groups to enact laws both on the state and national levels that would prohibit science-based food animal care practices. The delegates met during Farm Bureau’s annual convention in Kearney, on Dec. 8 and 9.

Delegates to Nebraska Farm Bureau’s 2008 convention next month will discuss repealing the water checkoff, increasing the amount of ethanol in blended gasoline, providing incentives for Livestock Friendly Counties, making it easier to obtain livestock facility permits, and requiring animal rights groups to take responsibility for unwanted horses.
