Hi this is Nebraska Farm Bureau's Ag News Now Radio Service, I’m Tina
Henderson.

Now here is today’s Farm Bureau
View program it is coming to you in 3…2…1…

Wind
energy is green and one of the fastest growing energy sources in the U.S. Here
to talk about this topic is Wind Utility Consultant Tom Wind.

The report runs 3:17.

Tom thanks for joining me on today’s program!

Question 1                     A U.S. Department of Energy
report has grabbed

the
attention of policymakers at the federal level. The report - released in the
summer of 2008 - looked at the feasibility of getting 20-percent of the
nation’s electricity from wind by the year 2030. Can we reach that level in the
U.S.?

Cut
#1      :24           O.C...”don’t get as much.”

Question 2                     Community wind has a big role
to play in that

wind
energy future because of the long-term benefits associated with community
ownership. A community can invest in its own energy resource – this brings the
benefits of the wind turbine home?

Cut
#2      :33           O.C...”in the wind farm.”

Question 3                     Keeping the benefits in the
local community –

will
ultimately increase public acceptance of the presence of wind turbines – this
is needed in order to have large scale wind generation in the states. Tell us
about the community wind model that have already taken off in states like
Minnesota and Iowa.

Cut
#3      :45           O.C...”off the ground.”

Iowa and Minnesota have been the most successful

when
it comes to encouraging small wind projects. Nebraska has just passed a law in this
session of the legislature to make it easier to start wind projects.

Tom
thanks for joining me!
