Roger Berry To Head Farm Bureau Member Services Department
Nebraska Farm Bureau has named Roger Berry of Lincoln as its vice president for member services, effective June 1. Berry will succeed Larry Zimmerman who has headed the Member Services Department since 1986. Zimmerman will retire on May 31.
Since 2006, Berry has been the field director for the Alliance for the Future of Agriculture in Nebraska (A-FAN), which assists individual livestock farmers who want to begin or expand a livestock operation. He also served on the Farm Bureau Member Services field staff from 2004 to 2006, as district director for central Nebraska, providing assistance to17 County Farm Bureaus.
"Roger will bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to our membership and to the workplace," Farm Bureau Chief Administrator Rob Robertson said April 7. "With his self-motivation and a teamwork approach, I know he is certainly up for the challenges of this position and for being a part of our overall team to help carry out the mission and vision for NFBF."
For 12 years, Berry managed and operated a row crop and small grains farm near Farnam, Neb., and was co-manager of cow-calf and farrow-to-finish swine operations. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years as an information systems specialist.
Berry earned an associate degree from Southeast Community College, Milford, in 1980 and is a 2001 graduate of the Nebraska Leadership Education/Action Development program. He and his wife Nancy live in Lincoln.
As head of Farm Bureau's Member Services Department, Berry will be is responsible for membership recruitment and retention, managing the Member Services staff, developing and marketing member benefits and services, and coordinating leadership development programs.
Nebraska Farm Bureau is the state's largest farming organization. Its farmer and rancher members grow a wide variety of agricultural crops and food animals on operations of all sizes.
