An addendum to last week’s story on the March 15 deadline to make farm program election decisions for 2022 crops . . . The story noted that elections or the choice between Agricultural Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) from last year will automatically roll over to 2022 if a new selection is not made by March 15. However, the Farm Service Agency state office kindly pointed out that a new contract, or enrollment, is required by March 15 regardless of whether an election is changed from last year. If a new contract is not signed by March 15, a producer is not be eligible for program payments if triggered. Contact the local county FSA office for more information.
