Agriculture Shorts

Todd Neeley, a reporter for DTN, reports the latest Agriculture Census shows Nebraska farmers cut fertilizer applications by 1.2 million acres between 2017 to 2022, cut the number of acres treated for insects by about 1.9 million acres, and cut treatments for weeds, grass, or brush by 2.3 million acres . . . According to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, at the end of March, topsoil moisture supplies in Nebraska rated 10% very short, 27% short, 60% adequate, and 3% surplus and subsoil moisture supplies rated 12% very short, 41% short, 44% adequate, and 3% surplus.
