Statement by Mark McHargue, President, Regarding the Death of Former Congressman and State Senator Brad Ashford

LINCOLN, NEB. – “Nebraska Farm Bureau is saddened to hear about the death of former Congressman Brad Ashford. He was a dedicated public servant as he served in Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional district from 2015 until 2017 and served 16 years in the state Legislature.”

“Brad Ashford was an advocate for farmers and ranchers, who worked across the political aisles to find common ground on issues. We worked well with him, both in the Legislature and the U.S. House of Representatives, as his ability to get things done across party lines was always apparent. We lost a great public servant, and our thoughts and prayers are with the Ashford family.”

The Nebraska Farm Bureau is a grassroots, state-wide organization dedicated to supporting farm and ranch families and working for the benefit of all Nebraskans through a wide variety of educational, service, and advocacy efforts. More than 55,000 families across Nebraska are Farm Bureau members, working together to achieve rural and urban prosperity as agriculture is a key fuel to Nebraska’s economy.
