A Farm Bureau backed coalition released a new study this week showing how the repeal of the step-up in basis would damage the U.S. gross domestic product (GDP), significantly decrease job creation and hammer middle-class, family-owned businesses; a bill seeking to break down barriers for farmers interested in participating in carbon markets allowing them to be rewarded for climate-smart practices was reintroduced in the U.S. Senate this week with Farm Bureau’s backing; and to celebrate Earth Day, Farm Bureau is reminding Americans that the EPA’s latest Greenhouse Gas Inventory Report includes good news for agriculture.
