NEFB Opposes National Heritage Area Designation
Nebraska Farm Bureau (NEFB) has taken an official position in opposition to the designation of a National Heritage Area (NHA) in South Central Nebraska. Those associated with the proposed project were notified of NEFB’s position earlier this week. While supportive of efforts to boost economic development in rural areas, Nebraska Farm Bureau has long-standing concerns about potential unintended consequences of federal designations in the state, including designations of NHAs. Development of a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) plan and National Park Service oversight were among Farm Bureau members’ concerns about potential erosion of private property rights.
