LB 454 Fails to Advance to Lower Property Taxes, Reform Education Funding
State lawmakers missed an opportunity to start down the path of reforming school funding in Nebraska and failed to advance LB 454 this week. The bill was prioritized by Sen. Curt Friesen of Henderson and would have adopted the School Property Tax Stabilization Act to direct more state aid to school districts who are overly reliant on property taxes. After much debate and discussion around several amendments, LB 454 fell two votes short of advancing past General File.
