Watermeier Named “Friend of Agriculture” by Nebraska Farm Bureau PAC

LINCOLN, NEB. – Dan Watermeier of Syracuse has been named a ‘Friend of Agriculture’ by NEFB-PAC, Nebraska Farm Bureau’s political action committee. Watermeier is seeking election to represent District 1 of the Nebraska Public Service Commission.

“Dan has done a great job representing the interests of his district during his tenure in the Legislature. He will continue to bring that commitment of service to the role of Public Service Commissioner,” said Mark McHargue of Central City, chairman of NFBF-PAC and first vice president of Nebraska Farm Bureau.

As a farmer, Watermeier understands the challenges Nebraska farm and ranch families face, including access to high speed internet, which continues to grow in importance with technological advances in farming and ranching operations.

“Dan’s experience in the Legislature will serve him well in representing the public on key issues such as regulation of the state’s telecommunications sector, including broadband expansion. His agriculture experiences will also help in oversight of the state’s grain dealers and warehouse regulations,” said McHargue. “We are pleased to offer our support for Dan Watermeier as he seeks election to the Public Service Commission.”

Farm Bureau’s “Friend of Agriculture” designation is given to selected candidates for public office based on their commitment to and positions on agricultural issues, qualifications, previous experience, communication abilities and their ability to represent the district.

The Nebraska Farm Bureau is a grassroots, state-wide organization dedicated to supporting farm and ranch families and working for the benefit of all Nebraskans through a wide variety of educational, service and advocacy efforts. More than 61,000 families across Nebraska are Farm Bureau members, working together to achieve rural and urban prosperity as agriculture is a key fuel to Nebraska’s economy.
