Nebraska Wheat Crop
The USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service projects Nebraska’s winter wheat crop will be 33 million bushels, up 26 percent from last year’s crop. Average yield is forecast at 34 bushels per acre, up two bushels from last year. Harvested acres are estimated to be 140,000 less than acres planted, a loss of acres 18 percent greater than the average acreage loss since 1997 of 119,000 acres, no doubt a result of the drought.
