Urban Newspaper Aims to Remove Voice of Rural Nebraska Voters

Nebraska Farm Bureau President Mark McHargue recently commented on a Lincoln Journal Star editorial board piece entitled, “Initiative Rules Need to Reflect New Demographics”. In the piece, the Lincoln Journal Star calls for the end of our state’s constitutional requirement that signatures for ballot measures need be gathered from 5 percent of the voters in 38 counties, effectively silencing Nebraska’s rural voice.
