Douglas County Farm Bureau Negotiates a Member Discount to The Omaha Children’s Museum
Douglas County Farm Bureau has once again partnered with the Omaha Children’s Museum to make sure agriculture is present at the museum. Douglas County Farm Bureau is the lead sponsor of an agriculture display showing children and their parents how food, fiber, and fuel comes from the farm to your house.
“We are so proud to be a part of this agriculture exhibit and help spread the word that the food we eat, the clothes we wear, and the fuel in our cars all come from our farms. Nebraska agriculture plays an important role in our everyday lives,” Larry Hadan, president of the Douglas County Farm Bureau said
The exhibit will be on the main floor of the Omaha Children’s Museum for the next five years. During that time, Douglas County Farm Bureau has negotiated a $15.00 per year membership discount to the Omaha Children’s Museum for people who are Douglas County Farm Bureau members.
“When children and their parents attend the museum, agriculture will be creatively represented showing a step-by-step process from “Farm to Fork.” It is so important in today’s fast-paced world that we continue to connect children and their parents with Nebraska agriculture. This exhibit has a strong focus for both the children and adults on many aspects of agriculture,” Hadan said.
Douglas County Farm Bureau partnered with the Omaha Children’s Museum in 2014, when they sponsored the Once Upon A Farm exhibit.
Buffalo County Farm Bureau BRAG Group Visits Nebraska Farm Bureau Home Office
The Big Red Ag Growers (BRAG) Agricultural Literacy group of Buffalo County made a trip to Lincoln to participate in communication training at Nebraska Farm Bureau (NEFB) on August 8.
BRAG is a group for youth ages 12-15 who are passionate about agriculture. Members receive the opportunity to participate in and develop advocacy skills for all areas of the ag industry.
“We want the youth to have an idea of what modern production looks like at an early age. We do a lot of touring, as well as leadership development and communication training. This is our second group and we have toured businesses in the Panhandle, Central Nebraska, and Eastern Nebraska,” said Kerry Elsen, BRAG co-chair.
BRAG is a partnership between Nebraska Extension and Buffalo County Farm Bureau and is funded by numerous businesses and individuals so that they can provide opportunities without a cost to participants.

This is the 21st year the Burt County Farm Bureau has held a kiddie tractor pull. It all started with the idea to give younger children, whose brothers and sisters weren’t old enough to show in the fair, the chance to win a ribbon also. Each child receives a ribbon and the top two in each age group receives a trophy. The trophy label also listed “Farm Bureau 1917-2017”. Sixty one children entered and a great audience of parents and grandparents watched.
