Statement by Steve Nelson, President, Regarding Taiwan Easing Restrictions on Import of U.S. Beef and Pork

LINCOLN, NEB. – “Taiwan’s recent decision to lift long-standing restrictions on imports of U.S. pork and beef is welcomed news to Nebraska farmers and ranchers. The health of our broader agriculture sector is tied heavily to our ability to sell our agricultural products into markets outside of U.S. borders. The elimination of these long-standing restrictions opens the door for the U.S. to gain greater market access and build stronger trade relations with Taiwan. Anytime we make progress in the trade arena it’s positive news, but even more so given the challenging environment our members find themselves operating in today.”
