Activists Propose Ban on New Livestock Farms

A coalition of activist and environmental groups spearheading opposition to the development of new chicken barns in the state took things to the extreme this week when they launched an online petition calling for a statewide shutdown of the development of any new livestock farms in Nebraska. Nebraska Farm Bureau responded publicly saying a statewide moratorium would be the equivalent of halting the growth of rural Nebraska and nothing short of a disservice to Nebraska farmers and ranchers and our state.
