“You have to be realistic about your goals. It takes a lifetime to build a farming operation. It’s not like going to college and you’re going to get that degree in four years because you’re going to work really hard for it. You may have to work really hard in farming for 15 years in order to . . . get that degree, which in my terms is getting to a spot where you’re comfortable and seeing those goals come true.” Dusty Romsek, farmer from Butler County, on NEFB’s Inside Profitability Series webinar, Nov. 2, talking about getting a start in farming with the assistance of state and federal beginning farmer and rancher programs.
