Congress Passes One-Year Farm Bill Extension

This week, Congress passed a Continuing Resolution (CR) to keep the government funded past the end of the calendar year. Included in the overall package was a one-year extension of the Farm Bill, averting the possibility of returning to the 1940s permanent law.

Thanksgiving Dinner Cost Relief, But Still High Relative to Recent Years  

As Americans prepare for Thanksgiving, they’ll see some relief in food prices for their Thanksgiving dinner. In the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 38th annual Thanksgiving dinner survey, we find that this year’s classic Thanksgiving feast for 10 will be $61.17, or approximately $6.12 per guest.

Assistance Available for Distressed Farm Loan Borrowers 

FSA is currently accepting individual requests for assistance from borrowers who took certain extraordinary measures to avoid delinquency on their direct FSA loans, missed a recent installment, or are unable to make their next scheduled installment. All requests for assistance must be received by Dec. 31, 2023.
