Previewing the Grower’s Gala

Get ready to turn back time for a totally awesome 80s dance party! The Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation’s eighth annual Grower’s Gala is set to be a radical evening of entertainment and fun on December 4 at 6:30 p.m. in Kearney.

“The main focus of the Grower’s Gala is to share and celebrate the past year’s accomplishments while providing an opportunity to support the Nebraska Agriculture in the Classroom program,” said Lona Thompson, director of development.

The Grower’s Gala is the largest fundraiser for the Foundation each year and the funds collected will help support programming into 2024 and provide free, hands-on resources for educators. The live auction portion of the event features items that range from experiences like a Husker Volleyball night, luncheon with the First Lady of Nebraska, and a fishing adventure, to some of the favorite items donors expect year after year.

“This year, we have fewer live auction packages because we really wanted to focus on popular items and experiences while also having time to concentrate on our Raise the Card effort. If you don’t find anything to bid on in the auction, you can still support the Foundation by raising your card,” said Thompson.

Raising the Card allows donors to fund a need like supporting a Nebraska agriculture education student teaching scholarship or sponsoring a summer camp with supplies for hands-on activities, with the donor choosing the level to which they donate. New this year, each person who gives during the Raise the Card segment of the event will be entered into a drawing to win one of three prizes: a $250 meat bundle, $100, or a $50 ethanol gift card.

Donors can also provide the Gift of Grain. Farmers who deliver grain to a co-op can donate any amount of grain to the Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation prior to sale. Those with questions on this opportunity can reach out to Lona Thompson at lonat@nefb.org

Following the live auction, the dance party will kick off with music provided by DJ Jay Ferris of Music Masters Mobile DJ and there will be games and prizes.

Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation would like to thank the sponsors who help make the Grower’s Gala possible: Farm Bureau Financial Services, Douglas County Farm Bureau, Lancaster County Farm Bureau, Chief, Farmers National, Nebraska Ethanol Board, and FNBO.
