Organic Farms in Nebraska

Certified organic farms in Nebraska numbered 238 in 2019, up 47 percent since 2016, according to the 2019 Certified Organic Survey conducted by the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS).

Sales by organic farms were $185 million in 2019, almost double sales in 2016, and accounted for roughly 8.5 percent of total agricultural receipts in the state. Cropland farms predominate organic production with 225 farms covering 146,803 acres. Organic production on pasture/rangeland is certified on 66 farms with 85,030 acres. On the livestock side, 31 livestock/poultry farms were certified organic, including 18 ranches with 2,315 acres. In terms of specific commodities, the numbers include:
