Farm Bill Signup

Signup for the 2018 Farm Bill programs began September 3 and ends March 15 of next year.

Producers must decide whether to enroll in either the Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) or the Price Loss Coverage (PLC) programs. While the underlying structure of both programs remains largely the same under the 2018 Farm Bill relative to the previous farm bill, the bill did make several modifications. For example, the current signup period covers the 2019 and 2020 crop years. In the remaining three years of the bill, producers will decide on an annual basis on which program to enroll. The 2018 bill also provides producers the opportunity to update yields for the PLC program.

To assist producers when considering signup alternatives, Nebraska Farm Bureau prepared a Top Ten Things to Remember document. The document list changes and items producers should contemplate when examining program alternatives. It is meant to be an educational piece. Producers should consult with their local FSA office or crop insurance agent before making any farm program or coverage decisions. The document can be found here.
