Industry Tours

Tours are held on Friday, January. 31. This is an opportunity to tour agriculture related businesses from 1:00-5:00 p.m. in and around Kearney. Buses will leave the hotel promptly at 1:30 p.m.

Discussion Meet

Each participant will receive a $10 refund at the end of the conference for participating.

The Discussion Meet competition simulates a committee meeting where discussion and active participation are expected from each participant. This competition is evaluated on an exchange of ideas and information on a pre-determined topic. Participants build basic discussion skills, develop a keen understanding of important agricultural issues and explore how groups can pool knowledge to reach consensus and solve problems. Members who typically do well in this competition are up to date on current Farm Bureau policy and issues and are able to clearly articulate their points and bring the group to a consensus.

The four finalists from the YF&R Conference Discussion Meet will compete in the Discussion Meet at the Nebraska Farm Bureau Annual Convention in December 2020 in Kearney. Nebraska award winners will receive $500 and an expense paid trip to the national YF&R competition at the American Farm Bureau Annual Convention in January 2021 in San Diego, CA. National award winners will be eligible for thousands in additional prizes and money.

Child Care

Child care is available to conference attendees. The cost is $55/per child (registration + meals) for the two-day conference. The hours of child care are Friday, Jan. 31, 1 p.m. – 9 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 1, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Meals include Friday dinner, Saturday lunch, and Saturday dinner. Please complete the child care registration form (one per family) and send to annam@nefb.org by January 3.
