Shaping the Future of Nebraska Agriculture
Join Us and Be Part of Something Bigger!
At Nebraska Farm Bureau, we’re dedicated to securing a bright future for farm and ranch families across the state. Your membership might come at a small cost, but the benefits are anything but! Through strong advocacy, educational opportunities, and leadership development, we’re working every day to protect and support both current and future generations in agriculture.
Saving thousands of dollars in federal taxes by successfully opposing the elimination of Stepped-Up Basis.
Saving Time by eliminating the need to obtain overweight permits for year-round transport of corps
Saving an average of $40,136 per farm/ranch by stopping proposals to eliminate agriculture’s sale tax exemptions
Priority Issues
For more than 100 years, Nebraska Farm Bureau has been the trusted voice of farm and ranch families—bringing producers together to tackle challenges, find solutions, and fight for the policies that keep agriculture strong for generations to come.
With the power of a grassroots membership, dedicated leadership, and a team that works directly with lawmakers, we’re making sure agriculture stays at the forefront of important conversations.
Tax Policy
Taxes matter—especially in agriculture. Outside of input and labor costs, your tax burden plays a huge role in your farm or ranch’s profitability. Unfortunately, Nebraska remains one of the highest-taxed states in the nation, ranking 24th in overall tax competitiveness and a staggering 45th in property taxes, according to the Tax Foundation.
At Nebraska Farm Bureau, we’re committed to changing that. We believe that for agriculture to thrive and for our communities to grow, we need better policies that rein in government spending and reduce tax burdens—especially property taxes.
Balanced Budget
Controlling government spending and keeping the state’s finances in check is critical for delivering long-term tax relief to Nebraska’s farm and ranch families.
Property Tax Relief
Recent efforts to lower property taxes have been eroding, as tax burdens continue to rise. We’re working to reform how K-12 schools are funded to ensure sustainable relief while keeping education strong.Renewing the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act
If Congress doesn’t act, $4.6 trillion in tax cuts will expire by the end of 2025, impacting families and businesses. Extending lower income tax rates, higher estate tax exemptions, and key business deductions is critical to prevent more tax hikes on Nebraskans.Nebraska Farm Bureau is leading the fight for fair tax policies that support agriculture. Join us in protecting your bottom line.

Growing Markets for Nebraska Agriculture Commodities and Products
Nebraska agriculture has a strong foundation in crop and livestock production, as well as biofuels—but to keep growing, we need to expand markets at home and abroad. More demand means more profitability for farmers and ranchers.
Strengthening Nebraska’s Livestock Sector
Feeding Nebraska-grown grain to Nebraska-raised livestock adds value at every step. But roadblocks to responsible livestock expansion are slowing progress. Nebraska Farm Bureau is working to streamline permitting processes and push back against extremist animal rights efforts that threaten our industry.
Advancing the Bioeconomy
With Nebraska ranking as the second-largest ethanol producer in the U.S., we’re driving innovation in biofuels and beyond. The next big opportunity? Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)—a rapidly growing market where Nebraska farmers must have a seat at the table.
Expanding International Trade
More than 30% of Nebraska ag products are exported. We’re working to protect existing trade agreements, hold partners accountable, and push for new opportunities to ensure Nebraska farmers and ranchers stay competitive in the global market.
Nebraska Farm Bureau is fighting for market growth that benefits you. Join us in shaping the future of Nebraska agriculture.

Advocating for Sound Agricultural and Regulatory Policy
Meeting Growing Energy Needs
A strong economy depends on reliable energy. We’re committed to expanding biofuels like SAF, ethanol, and renewable diesel, using more ag-based products in energy production, and ensuring regulations—like year-round E15 access—don’t hold us back.
Passing a New Farm Bill
After two years of debate, passing a new Farm Bill remains a top priority. We’re fighting to protect federal crop insurance, update commodity and conservation programs, boost trade promotion, and strengthen livestock disease prevention efforts.
Fighting Overreach from the EPA
From fertilizer and crop protection to water rights and land use, unnecessary regulations threaten the future of agriculture. We’re pushing back against federal overreach while working with the Trump administration to strike the right balance between environmental stewardship and agricultural productivity.
Nebraska Farm Bureau is fighting for policies that support your operation—not hold it back. Join us in shaping the future of ag policy.
