Nebraska Public Media reported that 450 Kellogg employees would lose their jobs by the end of August at the company’s plant in Omaha. The plant opened in 1942 and produces Fruit Loops and Frosted Flakes . . . Nebraska Public Media also reported Nebraska’s sugar beet crop will be down by nearly one-third this year, from 45,000 acres to about 31,000 acres. Drought and short supplies of water for irrigation are cited as reasons for the decline . . . The USDA notified farmers last week about new ARC/PLC base acres allowed under changes to farm programs passed by Congress last year. The provision allows up to 30 million new base acres nationwide. Farmers have 90 days to opt out . . . The Nebraska Department of Revenue reminds property owners that valuation protests must be filed on or before Tuesday, June 30, 2026, with county boards of equalization . . . Cattler, and Lincon-based cattle management software company, recently raised $2 million in capital to upgrade its software using artificial intelligence. The software allows ranchers and feedlot operators to feed livestock, manage cattle, track animal health, and manage accounts and billings.
