Aaron Smith, an agricultural economist with the University of California-Berkely, says a study estimated that “even if surplus nitrogen on cropland were to go to zero and remain there, it would take about 30 years for nitrogen loads in the Mississippi River Basin to reach their 1970 levels” . . . Bloomberg reported that Thailand plans to raise its annual quota for corn imports to 1 million tons from 54,700 tons and cut the existing 20% in-quota tariff to zero as part of concession to the U.S. . . . Tyson projected an adjusted operating loss of $400-$600 million in its beef operations for its 2026 fiscal year . . .
