The U.S. Census Bureau estimates Nebraska’s population grew by 12,415, or 0.06%, between July 2024 and July 2025. Population growth for the U.S. was 0.05%, one of the slowest rates in history . . . A monthy consumer sentiment index produced by The Conference Board, a research group, dropped from 94.2 in December to 84.5 in January, the lowest level since 2014 . . . The Daily Livestock Report says outstanding U.S. beef export sales are 16% lower than a year ago. Outstanding pork export sales are 16% higher . . . The National Chicken Council estimates Americans will eat 1.48 billion chicken wings while watching the Super Bowl, enough wings to circle the globe almost 3 times . . . Small egg farms (3,000-49,999 hens) outnumber large ones (>50,000 hens) by more than three to one acccording to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. In 2025, small egg farms registered with the agency represented 85% of new farms . . . Reuters reported electric vehicles made up 22.6% of cars registered in the European Union last month, slightly more than gasoline-powered cars at 22.5%. Hybrid vehicles were tops at 44%.
