Last week, the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service released its Prospective Plantings report, showing that Nebraska producers intend to plant 19.34 million acres to principal crops, down from 19.54 million acres in 2025. Producers indicated that they will plant fewer corn acres — 10.30 million acres versus 10.75 million last year, a 4% decrease. Soybean acres are expected to rise to 5.2 million, up from 4.85 million last year, a 7% difference. Nationwide, farmers indicated they intend to plant 95.34 million acres to corn, 3.4% less than last year but a bit more than the industry was expecting, and 84.7 million acres to soybeans, up 4.3%.
