Nebraska Farm Bureau Submits Comments on EPA's Latest Waters of the U.S. Proposal
Nebraska Farm Bureau (NEFB) submitted formal comments to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Army Corp of Engineers on its latest proposal addressing the federal definition of Waters of the United States (WOTUS) under the Clean Water Act.
Farmer Bridge Assistance Program
Since the USDA announced the farm bridge assistance program, more details have come out regarding commodity payments rates and the amount allocated. $11 billion will go to row crop commodities such as corn, rice, cotton, and soybeans. Specialty crops will receive around $1 billion.
Dietary Guidelines Focus on Fresh, Nutrient-Dense Foods
Nebraska Farm Bureau President Mark McHargue commented this week on the Trump administration's announcement of new Dietary Guidelines for Americans saying, “The announced Dietary Guidelines from the Trump administration provides necessary and appreciated changes to USDA's nutrition recommendations. While we continue to examine the full report, we certainly appreciate the efforts to prioritize high-quality animal protein products including red meat, poultry, dairy, eggs, and seafood, a position we've long endorsed. We want to thank President Trump and USDA Sec. Rollins for their efforts in ensuring farmers and ranchers continue to have a seat at the table as the administration continues to work through the many challenges facing Nebraska's farm and ranch families.”

Ag, Biofuel Groups Continue Call for Year-Round Sales of Lower-Cost E15
In a letter sent this week to congressional leadership, a coalition of more than 70 biofuel groups and agricultural organizations called for the immediate passage of legislation to allow year-round nationwide sales of the American-made E15 fuel blend, containing 15 percent ethanol.
