Drought Resources Available
Many Nebraska counties are experiencing drought conditions despite some recent precipitation. Nebraska FSA county offices are implementing assistance programs, including the Livestock Forage Disaster (LFP) program, which has triggered across much of the state. FSA recently shared information about LFP and other drought resources during a webinar with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Center for Agricultural Profitability. USDA Extends Supplemental Disaster Relief Program Application Deadline, Announces New Flexibilities for 2023 and 2024 Quality Losses
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is extending the deadline for farmers to apply for Stages 1 and 2 of the Supplemental Disaster Relief Program (SDRP) to Sept. 30, 2026. Additionally, USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) is providing greater flexibility for farmers who experienced quality losses on eligible crops.
Limited Seating: Nebraska's U.S. Senate Debate at the Nebraska State Fair
News Channel Nebraska is partnering with the Nebraska State Fair and three other Nebraska news organizations to host and broadcast a live debate between Nebraska U.S. Senate candidates.
The debate will feature Sen. Pete Ricketts and Dan Osborn. It will take place Tuesday, Sept. 1, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the BigIron Events Center during the Nebraska State Fair. Seating is limited to 200 members of the public. Advance registration is required. Admission will be granted on site on a first-come, first-served basis among those who registered. Registration does not guarantee admission if capacity is reached.
