The USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service bumped up its production forecasts for corn and soybeans in Nebraska in its latest estimates released Friday. The latest forecast pegs Nebraska’s corn crop at 1.967 billion bushels compared to the August forecast of 1.931 billion bushels. This year’s forecast, if realized, would be a record. The average yield is estimated at 191 bushels per acre, up from last year’s average of 188 bushels. Nebraska’s soybean production is projected at 292.8 million bushels, up from the August forecast of 270.8 million bushels. Forecast soybean yield was raised to 61 bushels per acre compared to 57 bushels forecast in August and 57.5 bushels last year.
