USDA Releases Crop Production Report

In addition to the WASDE report released on November 14, USDA also released the crop production report. The crop production report outlines harvest acres, yields, and production from a national and selected state level. The report compares 2024 data and October reports (not available due to federal government shutdown) with November reports. In figure 1, Nebraska’s crop production estimates from the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service are shown.

As these numbers show, soybean yield has been projected even higher in this new report while corn forecasts have remained relatively the same. Soybean production was forecasted to be around 15 million bushels higher than the September report. The report also compares last year’s harvested acres with this year’s current estimates. Corn had a dramatic increase in acres harvested from 9.6 million acres in 2024 to 13.3 million acres in the November 2025 report. On the contrary, soybeans saw a decline from 5.2 million acres in 2024 to around 4.8 million acres in 2025.
Other than corn and soybeans, sugar beets and sorghum numbers were also reported for Nebraska. This year’s sugar beets’ yield is projected to be around 29.7 tons per acre. Nebraska is projected to have the highest yield for sorghum around 92 bushels per acre among Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Texas. Potatoes remained stable compared to last year with an estimated 19,900 acres harvested this year in Nebraska. Potato’s yield is forecasted to be around 500 hundredweight (cwt) per acre, an increase from 485 cwt per acre in 2024.
